update

We have lots to update the world about but unfortunately the internet is not working in our house right now so no pictures until next week. However, lots of great news!

Baby
I had a check up last Tuesday and everything is still doing perfectly. Weight, blood pressure, size, everything, is just great. Only 8 weeks to go! Everyone says it is really close but I still feel like it is still a long way away. Especially since I seem to have no room for the baby except in my ribs! Not comfortable. Other than some pretty constant acid reflux, being tired all the time, and not being able to eat much, I am doing great. We set the baby's crib up yesterday and it becomes more real all the time. I have started washing all the baby's things and I can't wait to get everything set up. We need to unpack all the boxes we stuck in his room first! All in all, we are excited and nervous and can't wait to meet our little boy.

Jobs
Peter applied for a job at a software company earlier this summer in hopes of being able to make some more money so that the baby and I could stay home this fall. He had one interview before we went to Alaska and then one right when we got back. We were trying to trust the Lord but still wondering exactly what His plan was and what we were going to do if Peter didn't get the job. Well, I am happy to report that today was Peter's first day at his new job! Praise the Lord! He found out last Monday that he is going to be technical support for Choicepoint and will make enough to support us and I can stay home and care for our baby! I am sad that Peter will not be teaching because he is such an excellent teacher but I know the benefits, financial and emotional, of this job outweigh the benefits of him being a teacher. I am so blessed to have a husband willing to go out and seek a job out of his comfort zone just so his wife can stay home and care for his children. I can't express my joy in words! Because of his job, I am leaving my job at the end of August and I am able to take a day a week off starting the second week in August. My body needs it! The Lord is so faithful, even when we doubt!

2 years later...

This picture was taken on our 2 year anniversary on July 8th in Juneau. It has been a blessed 2 years and I honestly could not have picked a better husband. The Lord exceeded my greatest expectations when He brought Peter into my life. His love for me is a great example of Christ's love, completely unconditional.

Sunset

We had the most amazing sunset the night Sam and Sara joined the boat. It lasted forever! Lots of great pics.

More Alaska

The first Killer Whales Peter has ever seen! This couple was traveling beside the tug with their little baby. Very cool. We also saw lots of Humpbacks but didn't get very good pics.
This bald eagle was swooping to grab some bait fish Peter had thrown in the water. Very cool animals.
Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. Sam and Sara sea kayaked around it.
Sam and Sara joined us on the tug for our last night. We had the best weather of the whole trip.
Little adventurers on the beach. Sara found lots of shells.

Fish on!

One of the halibut we caught.
About 15 pounds of goodness.
The one salmon we caught. Becky and I brought the smoker and canning system onto the boat because we thought we were going to be up to our ears in fish. However, we were only up to our ears in crab.
In Tenakee, Peter placed the crab pots all by himself and we caught 30 crab! He was very proud and happy. These are the two biggest he got. The one on the right has barnacles on it.
After a long, choppy day of fishing, we went back to Tenakee and warmed ourselves in their hot springs. Now, as you can kind of tell by the blurry picture, this is not your typical hot springs. Not very many people in Tenakee have showers in their homes. They all use the bath house. There are hours for women and men and you go in, use the buckets along the wall to wash yourself. After you are all squeaky clean, then you can get in to soak. Did I mention no clothes allowed?

Tenakee Springs

We stayed in a little town called Tenakee Springs for three nights. Peter's brother John is working for a fishing outfitter there. This is also where we spent the 4th of July.
Tenakee is a town that I would describe as having lots of character. Above, Greg, Becky, Alex and John are standing on the side of the "road" waiting for the 4th of July parade. There is only this "road" in Tenakee and it is definitely more of a path. The only two cars are the firetruck and the gas truck. Everyone else either has a golf cart or a four-wheeler. The town consists of about 100 people. I thought Hingham was small!
However, do they know how to throw a party! After the 4 minute parade, the whole town went to a potluck downtown. I was expecting typical potluck food, hotdogs, hamburgers, beans, etc. Alaskans do things different up here! We had fresh halibut, salmon, huge shrimp, crab legs and tons of side dishes and desserts! I kept saying how I could see a magazine doing a special on this town.
The general store which looks like it came directly from an old western movie.
A float in the parade.

Tongass Queen

We got to go on a Tugboat trip around the waters of Southeast Alaska for a week. It was super fun. It is kind of like a motorhome for the water. This is where we docked the first night.
Peter and I pulled our crab pots after they sat out all night and we collected 22 crab! They were delicious! We had some for breakfast right then!
