A Different Perspective

When you watch someone discovering life for the first time, you can't help but look at things from a new perspective as well. The time I get to spend hanging out with Kale after work is sometimes what gets me through the day. Today was no different.

Watching...watching...soaking it all in

This is what life would be like if Kale was a gold fish (in case you were wondering).

He loves observing from his exersaucer.

You be the judge...disturbing or intriguing picture?

And when he's done hanging out...HE'S DONE HANGING OUT.

36 hours

Oma Becky was only here for 36 hours and probably spent more time than that traveling to see us. We are so glad she made the effort and miss her now that she is gone. Every minute was well spent and hopefully she got her fix of Kale until next time. I love the hat Oma made for me!
Here we go to lunch
Mason, Becky, and Kale
Staying up past my bedtime was worth it, just to see Oma. I wish she could rock me to sleep more often!

Passing The Time

Since Oma Becky's delayed arrival, I've had to keep myself busy this weekend. I've tried to do things to pass the time, and quite frankly I'm running out of things to do! However in case you're wondering, here are a few things I've found that have helped with the painful anticipation of Oma's arrival...
Played with my good friends Mason (left) and Smith (right)

Since I wasn't there for Mommy and Daddy's wedding, I thought I'd take the chance and dance with Mommy today. Isn't Mommy beautiful?

I've also tried dancing on my own.

As we speak, Oma Becky and her good friend Moon are driving from Billings since they didn't want to attempt the tentative flights coming into Bozeman. After almost two full days of traveling from Memphis, TN to Bozeman, MT, we're hoping that they decide to never travel again and stay with us forever.

4 months (and a week)

Four months old and sleeping through the night! 3 nights in a row and it just keeps getting better. (For those of you who care, last night he went from about 8:30 until 9:30 this morning!) I thought we were going to have to wait until 6 months and then let him cry and cry. No, this kid is wonder kid and figured it out on his own! Anyway, at 4 months, Kale is our happy little guy. He is full of smiles and very content to play in his exersaucer or watch mom in the kitchen in his bumbo seat. He likes to be sung to and he is very intent on studying anything interesting in his line of sight. He gets a little frown and sticks his lips out. He absolutely loves his dad and talks to him more than anyone else. I think this delights Peter to no end. :o) He is very aware and observant of what is going on. He's easy going but gets upset when he can't see what is going on. He especially likes his dad's beard. His usual smiley self.

(Just needed a picture to show and his little biscuits are so cute!)

Parenthood Lesson #72975: Your child will sleep through the night eventually, more than one night in a row. He will sleep from 7pm to 6am and you will feel like a new person the next morning when he continues to sleep until 8:30.

Maybe you are all tired of reading about my son's sleep habits but I just have to brag about last night. He went down for the night between 8:30 and 9:00. He then proceeded to sleep until...prepare yourselves.......5:30. Yes, I know! I am shocked and amazed and feeling GREAT! Then, after I fed him at 5:30, he proceeded to sleep until 9:45! Not only did I get almost a full night of sleep, I got to sleep in! These fingers of his are amazing! (And the fact that he ate about 6 ounces before bed, a lot more than normal.) Can I hope for another night of the same tonight? Here's hopin'!

home sweet home

So sweet!

After being away from home for a little over 2 weeks, first Christmas, then house sitting, we are settling back into our little abode. It is wonderful to sleep in our own beds and Kale celebrated by only getting up once in the night the first night we were back. He has started sucking his ring and middle finger on his right hand, the same ones I did when I was little. It is so sweet to see. He loves to shriek and hear his voice. I fall more in love with him every day. We are so blessed!

my husband

My husband is living proof that if you let go of your expectations of what you think you want in a spouse, God will exceed those expectations 10-fold. I cannot thank God enough for the blessing that is Peter. He really is my prince charming. Let me list just a FEW of the things he has done for me in the last month.

~Christmas (highlights)
~His presents are always heartfelt and thoughtful. He first let me sleep through the night while he got up and cared for Kalen. Kalen was a champ and proceeded to get up 3 times that night!
~He wrote me a love/Christmas letter. He always has truly touching things to say that I know come from his heart.
~He and Kale made me Kale's footprint and handprint out of clay.
~He got me a book about communicating in a marriage and we have begun to read it together.
~We house sat a few days after Christmas and he made a second Christmas for us, just the 3 in our family. He took the time to make a fire, fill our stockings and give us our very own Christmas.

~I complained about being a bit stressed out the other day. He helped make dinner and then
poured me a glass of wine and drew me a bath. He took Kale and I had some alone time.

~I got to sleep in on New Year's Day while he took care of Kalen.

~On Sunday, I got to sleep in yet again while he cared for Kale. Not only that, I awoke to all our Christmas decorations put away, the tree outside and all the needles cleaned up. He then began organizing our pantry cupboard, something I had been meaning to do for awhile. Then he went grocery shopping for dinner that night and proceeded to make the best lasagna I have ever had.

~His love for our son is so obvious, it makes my heart swell.

~He strives to be the husband and father that God wants him to be.

This is just a small glimpse into the life I am blessed with. I can't praise the Lord enough for my wonderful husband. Peter, you mean the world to me.

Kale, Mason, Lizabeth, Jack, and Smith
Hello! Been away from Internet for awhile and have gotten some complaints about no uploads so here I sit in a coffee shop, updating all you blog junkies! :) We ventured up to Hingham for Christmas and had a wonderful time. All three of us got spoiled and my brother and sister had fun helping Kale open all his gifts while he struggled to stay awake. We had to travel back to Bozeman on Christmas Day and although it was sad to be traveling, I was glad to be with my two favorite people and would not have been anywhere else.
~
Kale turns 4 months old today. We had his 4 month appointment before Christmas at 16 weeks and he is just a little peanut! He weighed 11 pounds and 6 ounces, exactly 2 pounds more than last time. He is only in the 5th percentile for height and weight but the 25th percentile for head circumference. Nothing to worry about though, he is growing but he's just a little guy, which I personally don't mind! He is always moving and looking around. Nursing now has to happen in silence and darkness, otherwise he wants to look around too much. We're trying to get on a schedule and so far he has been a champ. He loves playing with his dad, almost as much as his dad loves playing with him! Kale has lots of smiles for everyone and could be described as a flirt. We love our little guy and have more fun all the time. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Check out the pictures here.http://picasaweb.google.com/naomi.rae.8/Christmas2007
